April 1st 2009

April 1st 2009 The last 2 weeks have been tough. The weather was terrible and didn’t allow us to do any fishing for 13 days. We have fished the past 2 days and the fishing was surprisingly pretty good. The trolling action was slow but the few mahi we did catch were nice fish. I think as we get a little further along in the month the trolling action should be very good. The bottom fishing was also surprisingly good. We caught some monster amber jack and a few nice grouper. The sight fishing for cobia seemed to slow a little but we did manage to find 1 nice fish on our last trip and a few triple tail. The cobia are not more than a few miles off Cocoa Beach, Port Canaveral. This makes for a nice relaxing day of fishing because of no long run to the fishing grounds. The shark fishing is starting to show signs of improvement. We caught a few black nose and spinner sharks along with some nice red drum and bottom rays on lastnights shark trip. I think as the water continues to clean up, all the fishing should just keep getting better.
